4 Gut-Healing Smoothies to Support Detoxification

Detoxing your body doesn't necessarily mean going on a strict juice cleanse or eating only salads. You can support your body's natural detoxification processes and promote gut health with delicious smoothies. Here are four gut-healing smoothies that will nourish your body and leave you feeling refreshed. Spoiler...the fourth smoothie is my favorite and my post-workout morning smoothie from Monday through Friday.

1. Pineapple and Ginger Smoothie

This smoothie contains a variety of ingredients that support gut health and aid in digestion. Pineapple is rich in bromelain, an enzyme that helps break down protein, while ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe an upset stomach.

Ingredients:

1 cup frozen pineapple

1 banana

1/2 inch fresh ginger, peeled

1/2 cup coconut water

1 tbsp chia seeds

Instructions:

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

Pour into a glass and enjoy.

2. Green Detox Smoothie

This smoothie is packed with greens that are rich in vitamins and minerals, as well as fiber that supports gut health. The addition of lemon and apple cider vinegar helps promote digestion and balance pH levels in the body.

Ingredients:

1 cup spinach

1/2 cup kale

1/2 cucumber

1/2 lemon, juiced

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1/2 cup coconut water

Instructions:

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

Pour into a glass and enjoy.

3. Berry Beet Smoothie

Beets are a great source of fiber and antioxidants that support liver function, while berries contain high levels of vitamin C and fiber that promote gut health. The addition of almond milk and chia seeds provides healthy fats and protein that help keep you full and satisfied.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup frozen mixed berries

1/2 cup cooked beets

1/2 banana

1 cup almond milk

1 tbsp chia seeds

Instructions:

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

Pour into a glass and enjoy.

4. Post-workout Smoothie (almost everything is from Costco)

This smoothie is a great source of gut-healing collagen peptides, inflammation reducing omega 3's, soluble and insoluble fiber to cleanse your gut and detox your body, power packed antioxidants, as well as vitamins and minerals. Just a heads up that I've included two versions of my smoothie below, one with normal amounts for healing and maintenance, the other if you're trying to gain muscle mass.

Version 1 - Ingredients (normal):

1 frozen banana

1/2 cup frozen wild blueberries

2 heaping scoops of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides chocolate flavor (25 grams of protein)

1 cup of almond milk or water

1 tbsp of psyllium husk

1 tsp chia seeds

1 Global Healing Aloe Vera capsule (that I pour into the smoothie)

1 tbsp flax seed oil

Version 2 - Ingredients (gain muscle mass):

2 frozen banana

1 cup frozen wild blueberries

2.5 heaping scoops of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides chocolate flavor (30 grams of protein)

2 cups of almond milk or water

1 tbsp of psyllium husk

1 tbsp chia seeds

1 Global Healing Aloe Vera capsule (that I pour into the smoothie)

1 tbsp flax seed oil

1 tbsp almond butter or similar (optional)

Instructions:

I add my liquid of choice, put the lid on with the top open, turn the blender on low.

Add everything except the fruits while the blender is on low.

Turn the blender off, add your fruits.

Put the lid on, blend on high until smooth.

Pour into a glass and enjoy.

These four gut-healing smoothies are delicious, easy to make, and packed with nutrients that support your body's natural detoxification processes. Give them a try and see how they make you feel!
